This meditation is perfect for those times when you wish to tame your thoughtful mind, to ease restlessness, increase concentration levels, release urges to procrastinate and to gain focus in your work.
This meditation should be done just before the activity:
Sit in a comfortable position. In this position, you will need to have a straight back to align all your energy chakras.
Begin with concentration to your breathing patterns. Observe our body and mind as the air enters in and out of your body. Do not try to control it - just let your breathing flow in its own natural pattern. Do this for 2-3 minutes.
Place both hands in a position on your lower stomach area, palms facing inwards into your body. Keep your hands there for the whole meditation. Keep your focus on this area and continue to observe your breathing patterns for another minute.
Take a deep breath into this area. Feel your chest and body expand and release as this deep breath passes in and out.
While remaining focused on where your hands are placed, begin to ask these questions about the task ahead: What is my purpose for this task? What will I gain by completing this task? How can I use my positive energy to enjoy the experience? If there are any parts of this task that you may not like, try to think of 1-5 good things/reasons on this task. Spend a few minutes on each question – simply let your mind flow with the thoughts, do not attempt to control them.
If at anytime there are negative thoughts about the task, repeat this affirmation: This is a challenge that I am willing to take. I am ready for this. After you have gone through the questions and answers in your mind, take a deep breath once again. Stay focused on where your hands are placed. Stay in this position as long as you need until you feel ready to end. Trust your instincts to know when. When you are ready, thank your Self for this loving time to nurture Self and repeat this affirmation twice: I am a loving soul, I am ready to give my all my energy into this task.
